How to use our Reusable Rust Remover
Crusty & Rusty is easy to use and safe on most metals. No scrubbing, no harsh fumes, and no special equipment required.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Prepare the Item
- Remove any loose dirt, oil, or grease from the item. Light cleaning helps the remover work more effectively.
- No need to remove paint unless the rust is underneath it.
- Soak the Rusted Item
- Fully submerge the rusty item in the solution.
- Use a plastic or glass container. Metal trays may react with the solution.
- For larger parts, soak a rag in the solution and wrap it around the rusted area. Then cover it with plastic wrap to keep it wet.
- Wait
- Let the item soak for 30 minutes to 12 hours, depending on the severity of the rust.
- Light rust may be gone in under an hour. Heavier rust will take longer.
- The solution only removes rust — it won’t harm clean metal, plastic, or most painted surfaces.
- Rinse and Dry
- Once the rust is gone, rinse the item with clean water.
- Dry it thoroughly to prevent flash rusting.
- Repeat if Needed
- Very rusty items may need more than one soak.
- The solution is reusable. You can keep using it until it turns dark and stops working.
Tips for Best Results:
- Use at room temperature or warmer — cold slows down the process.
- Agitate gently during soaking for faster results.
- Store the used solution in a sealed container to reuse it later
Additional tips
If left in the liquid overnight, a black residue will be on the metal, this can simply be rinsed off with clean water
